The combination of Shen's glare (was it really a glare? Xue knew he had a way of misinterpreting these things on occasion, but he could have sworn he'd done something to annoy the Lieutenant General) and Kamlong's hand on his shoulder made him want to curl up in a corner and make himself as small as possible. He'd been ready to excuse himself all together, but he wasn't about to disobey the general.
"Yes sir," he said, his voice questioning just a little.

"It was my pleasure, General." Naia was about to bow again, but Kamlong's hand fell heavily on his shoulder. That made him more nervous than anything, honestly - this man was sharp. It's like he could see through a stone wall. He didn't get this position because of his father, that's for sure.
Relaxing his shoulders and hips, Naia let himself be steered without resistance. He quickly got his bearings, remembering which way Xue had led him, and started to head back to General Rie's camp...
... but Kamlong and Xue were sticking together, were they? Naia didn't stop walking, but slowed his pace just a little. It would be too dangerous; people were already suspicious... well,, he thought as he veered his course slightly so a tent would block the general and lieutenant general's lines of sight, if I can find a good hiding place...

"Ah." Kamlong stopped walking, as if suddenly remembering something important. He turned around, hand leaving Xue's shoulder for a second. "Sorry, I forgot that you're still new. Forgive me. General Chou's camp is that way." He pointed to the southwest. "Do you need me to show you the way?"

Xue turned around, tilting his head. "Don't you remember the way, Jun? Maybe you can get someone to take you back..."

Mentally kicking himself for taking the risk, Naia followed Kamlong's gesture with a faintly dumbstruck stare and followed that up with the expression of one trying to be straight-faced after sitting down but missing the chair. "Please don't let me take up more of your time," he replied humbly. "I was simply disoriented... I can find it from here."
Walking in the right direction this time, Naia fought the temptation to hit his forehead against the nearest solid object. Excellent. No one thinks anything's amiss now, do they. At this rate, you'll be lucky to live through the week. Better lay low for a few days, and hope wherever we move to will have places to hide.

"Then, let's go," said Kamlong, turning back to Xue with the same smile on his face.

"Mmmm..." Xue replied, returning Kamlong's smile hesitantly and following him away from Naia. "Good night, Jun," he offered as the two of them walked back towards Yulin's tent.
