"Sure you do!" said Yulin, much too lightheartedly for the real gravity of the situation. "If you're a good boy, you won't die. And if you're not, you will."

"He is unarmed and alone in unfamiliar enemy territory. He has nowhere to go, I'm sure that won't be a problem," said Kamlong, having it double as both assurance and a warning.
"We're not gonna kill him?" Rie Chou suddenly said, looking somewhat disappointed and scandalized. "A Japanese kid in our land, and we're gonna let him go?"
"Not quite," promised Kamlong. "We don't know anything about you yet, so you understand that you will be staying with us until we know you're not a threat." He paused, frowning. "Even if you aren't, you might want to stay with us, it might be dangerous elsewhere. But nevertheless, until then you'll be under our charge."

Letting his eyes wander towards Yulin, he gave the girl a much appreciated look for the slight advice. Not that he would go out of his way to offend anyone, anyways. Quietly he listened to the conversation between the two Generals. He was slightly horrified that he would be executed on the basis of just being Japanese. Now he wondered about China's foreign policies, just for the keep sake of politics.
"Whatever your conclusion, I am in debt to you for sparing my life," he bowed his head to Sze probably the third time around. He just wanted to place an emphasis on how much he greatly valued his life - just for the sake of others. He was going to be strong till the very end.

"Don't thank us just yet," cautioned Yulin, taking his hands from behind. The soldier she had called returned with a length of rope, which she used to bind him. "Ugh, these are a little rougher than I would've liked, so I won't tie them so tight. They still probably won't be kind to your skin, so keep your sleeves down."

Kamlong checked the ropes when she was done, and nodded in satisfaction. "We can't treat you better than a normal soldier," he said as he was leading the prince to where he would be kept, "but we will do our best to ensure that you are not hurt." Soldiers were stationed at the entrance and at the back; they lifted the flap for the two to enter. "Best get some rest while you can. We will be moving to the border tomorrow, and it is a long walk."

Curling his fingers in and out of his palms, getting used to the restraints - his eyes drifted quietly to the tent before turning his head to look at Sze kindly. "Even that is giving too much to a stranger. As like any man," his eyes followed towards Yulin, "and woman in China .. if in need of an extra hand, I will gladly put myself to use." He didn't want to take advantage of the army's luxuries, they had given him the chance to keep his own life (even if there was still a chance of dying). As a leader of many people he couldn't help grasp the way Kamlong's authorities worked around here.
"I am sure you need the rest more than I," he said softly while being ushered into the tent - the flap closed down but not all the way just in case something happened.
