Sorano flinched a bit, as if the words were stinging the back of her neck. She glanced up at at Kyo, giving him an apologetic--but confused--look.
"Sorry, sir," she called over her shoulder to Kisho. "Sorry," she said under her breath to Kyo as she brushed past and out the door, sliding it closed. Hopefully, that boy wouldn't get chewed out by Kisho too bad...
The laundry could wait; she sidestepped and leaned against the wall, listening in. Interruption or not, she wasn't going to leave empty-handed--she had to find out something.

Once the girl stepped out of the room, his right hand went up so that he could scratch the side of his head. A small sort of jingling name came from the process, until his hand rested back to his side. "It's hard for me to refuse art but all right, I'll produce hands," it sounded awfully funny saying that. Kyo wanted to go into a fit of laughter but Kisho's negativity only led him to a blank face.
"So," he said while stepping forward with grace, "the officers told me the Prince is missing or has been abducted. One of those two, you know? But the question is..why save him? Who does it benefit? If you just let him be lost within the seas, then the Imperial status will be bestowed to you. Or are you a man who desires no power?"
Kyo knew he had never wanted power for himself, but many people did. They wanted the wealth and the feeling of superiority.

Waiting until the door was shut and the young lady gone Akiyama let out a breath, more of a hiss filled with irritation. He put up with certain people only because they were essential to other areas that he needed or wanted. Sometimes he felt that way about Kyo...one of those times was right now.
"If I do not put up the front of wanting him to be found then I will be under suspicion. Hopefully he truly is dead and the one who tried to assassin him did his job right. Then again maybe he failed..."this brought about a rather nasty expression to his face and he licked his lips before continuing,..."if so I can only hope that the Prince is long gone somewhere and he shall never be seen again."
Desire no power? That was amusing and caused him to laugh outright. "Of course I desire power, who would want a taste of such a thing and not want to keep it? I want and need this and I shall have it, make no mistake Kyo." Walking around the other side of the desk he stood just in front of the younger man and gave him a gaze that was down his nose.
"If...somehow, the Prince is found. I will find ways to sabotage him ever having children as well. That young Reitosuru girl is beautiful and untouched. Somehow if she were to no longer be a virgin she would no longer be found worthy. Maybe I should send you after her...once or if the prince is ever found. It will take them quite some time to find another suitable woman...beauty, grace, intelligence and purity...not to mention blood, are all important factors for heirs."

Slowly the lids of his eyes widened to show the pupil of his right eye was slightly larger than his left. It could've meant a series of events happened, but he nodded his heads to the other's thoughts and ideas. Until Akiyama hit the last idea, about the girl. He did not have respect or manners so he took two steps backwards. Kyo had no fear in Akiyama but when he wanted to be close to others he would go near them. He was pretty sure he would step back close, but for now he kept the distance.
"Ahah, I wonder what you will start to do with said power. I am sure people you've despised would come to an end, and everything and anyone you ever wanted will be forced at your side. Either in fear or in chains," Kyo knew of all these dark secrets, the secrets men of power sometimes wanted. Just like many Gods and Kings who kill for power. Now it was his turn to laugh, the right hand lifted this time so his palm could rest over his feverish forehead.
Once his soft laughter was done, he separated his fingers so his eye could peek through. "In all of my evil deeds, my hands have failed to reach out and touch the person. I will refuse such deflowering but if it is a death you want, a death I can give."

This child, really because he definitely was not a man yet, was scatterbrained seeming but could be counted on to get his job done. Listening to him was a hassle though, as he often just stopped or went on with other things in the middle of a conversation. "I have already seized most of the power available to me and taken care of rivals or those who have decided not to like me." It was true, they all met with unfortunate accidents...well most of them had so far.
Once again he shook his head, how could you shame someone if they were dead? How could you cause a family or even a nation the pain of humility if people were dead. No you had to make them suffer. "Then I shall not send you, there is no suffering in death, only release. I do not want that. I do want you to listen out for those who speak against me, take down names and who they may be related to or talking to. I want an entire list of people in 2 days time."

Kyo tried to pay attention to Akiyama's voice, while his fingers curled against the flesh on his forehead and his head bowed in understanding. Actually, his head was down due to the pain and the dim lighting in the room was causing him to feel slightly off. Casually, his fingers moved up and ran through his own hair. The gray strands rose and then fell against his cheek. At last he stood up in the normal straight stance, trying to focus his stare on Akiyama's face. Usually when he fell silent, it meant something was wrong.
Slowly, he nodded his head and spoke up, "that I can do." He seemed to step off to the right side until he turned to stare at the door. His posture was mangled with the twist and then he looked back over to Akiyama, the larger pupil of his eye wavering as he tried to blink the slight pain away. As though nothing was wrong, he flashed the man a wide toothy grin.

Sorano practically had her ear affixed to the thin wall before she knew it, and had to straighten up before anyone wandering around got suspicious.
And speaking of suspicious.
She bit her lip as she listened, not really liking the way the conversation was going. The search for the prince was just a facade, and now, hurting his fiancee--Why do the women always get picked on in the absence of the men?! she thought irritably.
It became apparent to Sorano that she might need to start looking into a second job. Another one deep-rooted in the political state, of course. Someone was bound to want the dirt she'd been digging up around here for months...Not really too intentionally, of course; but after a while, she'd gotten into a habit of saving old papers and stumbling in on important conversation. Just in case.
It's a good thing you're up to no good, Kisho-san, she thought, so I don't have to deal with you anymore...

One brow drew up while he watched Kyo, something was wrong with the boy. Several strides later and he was practically on top of him, reaching out and feeling for himself his forehead. "Why are you here? You are very hot to the touch, shouldn't you be in medical? You cannot work feeling like this, no wonder you seemed more odd then usual." He gave him an admonishing look and opened up the doors to see if anyone was outside.
He spotted Sorano still outside but gave no thought of it. "You, I want you to take him somewhere so that he can be seen to. Make sure he doesn't wander off either, or it will be your head...understood?"
Akiyama pushed Kyo at the girl and gave her an almost menacing look before he stepped back. "When you have been seen to Kyo I want you to come back to me right away. Then we will talk more. I cannot use you like this."

While Kisho moved forward, he had wanted to recoil back and away into a corner. Not by fear but by the fact that he wasn't in control of the situation, and his mind wouldn't connect with the events. However, he felt the man's hand against his forehead and he stared up quietly. "Ah, no, I am not sick - no, really ... I just took a blow the head, yeah about one of those officers...sorry," he was mumbling this while he was shoved out of the door quickly. Of course he would show up, it was part of having a 'job'.
Suddenly he was shoved forward and his glazes irises stared at the girl's face. Kyo gave her a small smile and he stepped back as to not fall into the girl and cause some huge collision. Glancing over his left shoulder he gave Akiyama a bemused stare, "is my awkwardness really that hard to watch?"

Sorano cringed a bit when she was spotted, but he didn't seem to mind too much. Waaay too close! She squeaked a bit and straightened at the demand.
"Yes si--ah!" she stopped mid-reply as the stranger almost ran into her. She tried to return the smile, but the acidity of Kisho's tone was more than motivating. She nodded her head respectfully, gesturing with a hand as she all-too-hastily moved away from Kisho's office.
"Follow me, please, sir," she said meekly.

"It is not your awkwardness that is hard to watch but your obvious problem. I will not have someone that works for me in such a dubious condition. You need to be at full health, you could have a concussion which, if you fall asleep, you may not ever wake up from. I want my soldiers in top condition. Now go, and no coming back without a clean bill of health." Akiyama took very good care of those in his service, so that they would stay there.
His dark eyes scanned over Sorano's face and he gave her a predatory smile. She really was very beautiful and he would have loved to have her, oh well such is life he supposed.

Kyo was confused for once, Akiyama barely showed any care about anyone he worked with. So why him? Or anyone for that matter? His face turned blank as he turned and glanced at Sorano finally and then to the ground. Everything looked a little darker in contrast, and his head hurt a bit - although sometimes the pain would dull into numbness. Glancing back up from the ground, he waited for the girl to go to wherever and he would follow. Without thinking he lifted his left hand to wave it at Akiyama, although the wave was backwards.

Sorano turned her back on both men, and her face twisted into a grimace. One more leer from that man and she was going to stick a pair of needles in his eyes...She sighed; Just keep it together.
Glancing over her shoulder quickly, she started walking away from the office to--she squinted. Where now? Good question. Oh well. There was bound to be some place vacant around here, what with that so-called search party heading out...
And there was. She slid the door open and peeked in--vacant and almost empty of anything--before looking back over her shoulder at the stranger. Strange, indeed. Still...he did show up just before something terrible was about to happen, so she couldn't really be too critical.
"You can sit down anywhere you like, sir," she said, sidestepping to let him enter first. Her mind shouted, What the heck am I supposed to do now?!, though her placid smile did good to cover up any signs of unease.

Kyo wasn't sure what to say to the girl. Instead his eyes just focused on her and then looked into the room. Stepping in he found there was a lowered table and some miscellaneous cushions - positioned for each individual to sit at the table. Taking a few steps forward he slowly let himself kneel onto one of the cushions before he looked at the wall across from himself. But because of his movement his eyes rolled back a little and his form fell back. He was pretty much unconscious now that he didn't have to stay up to talk business anymore.

"If you tell me where you hit your--"
....
She gaped at the now-unconscious man incredulously. Wha..?!
"...Wha.." she echoed audibly. "..Hit your head a bit too hard, huh..?"
Kneeling down next to him, Sorano looked at him hesitantly for a long time. What the heck am I supposed to do with this, now?! she thought, baffled. Can't treat a guy who can't tell you what's wrong with him.
She brushed the unpinned hair from her cheek as she tried to recall if there was any mention...Oh. Kisho had mentioned he was warm. I guess that's a start. She got up and left the room briefly to get a box of medicinal supplies and some water.
When she returned, she had hoped there would be some change, but that was just wishful thinking. Settling back down beside the unconscious boy, she carefully reached out, brushing away his bangs and gingerly laying her palm across his forehead.
"..You're not that warm," she said quietly, not really to him--he wasn't awake, anyway. Carefully, her fingers trailed from his forehead to his scalp, feeling for a bump. "Did that guard you said you took out whack your head?"
