Suddenly his right rose as to silence the girl and his left returned to its normal position. He smiled half heartedly at the girl; almost wanting to laugh at how sincere she was being about this. "I don't care about him and he does not care about me - we are not friends. Really, to him .. all of this, is just a game. I don't mind.." Kyo stayed near to the door, his back resting against the open hitch of it. "Tomorrow, I will resign - for you."

Sorano chewed on her lip anxiously as he spoke, not really sure how to react to his expression. But when he said he'd resign, she looked surprised. Th...that's it? No drawn-out deliberation? No argument? How utterly bewildering, and yet...incredibly relieving. She smiled, still embarrassed at how ridiculous she had acted.
"I--hope that it won't be an inconvenience for you," she said, suddenly worried. "I mean, it's kind of hard to get a job around here that won't lead up to him, and I didn't want to cause you any trouble, even though that's kinda what I've been doing this whole time--sorry about that, truly--but.."
She squinted. She lost track of exactly what her point was in that statement. Good grief! She exhaled--having practically held her breath the whole time--shaking her head with a laugh.
"I'm so sorry, sir; I must be driving you crazy. I'll do my best to make it up to you, honestly, truly; I don't mean to be so demanding."

The fact remained true; he only acted on things other people wanted of him. But for some reason doing something for Sorano felt perfectly normal, and she was requesting him to do it for safety and reassurance instead of death or violence. What reward would he get out of doing this? Nothing - that's what made it so nice. "No worries, I am not worried about working or anything. I just do it to drown my thoughts, to get away... " a sudden laugh came from him, "I have enough heritance to get me through two life times."
Now suddenly he looked over at his hand lifted up and in the air, noticing the scrolls. "Oh," realization hit him. "He.. wants these.."

His reassuring words did put Sorano a bit at ease about his situation, but at the mention of the scrolls he'd had in in his hands, her expression fell.
"Right..He'd be a little curious as to why you'd all of a sudden take a job and then turn around and quit days later, wouldn't he."
Shoot.
"I guess it'd be a bit hard to come up with fake names, huh?" she said aloud, as if she was just speaking her own thoughts. Dangit, what do we do? She bit her lip, eyeing the scrolls in his hand worriedly.

"Well, definitely people on this list will be killed. I suppose I can just keep them for myself, and go through a historical book and give him names like that .. but you know, if he's educated he'll know they aren't real," Kyo went on, letting his thoughts come to voice. "Or even send him a scroll with just my name on it.." a cat like grin appeared on his face. Well, certainly Sorano couldn't drive him crazy since he apparently was insane enough for it.

"I have a sneaking suspicion you might enjoy the reaction he'd get out of that far too much," Sorano said with a raised eyebrow. Honestly, she would have, too.
"If that were the case, you might as well just've put down names of all his high-ranking officials to boot and really drive him up the wall."
She blinked, staring off for a minute. "...Which wouldn't really be a bad idea...Just incredibly insane. Which I don't think bothers you."

At Sorano's suggestion his face turned blank cold and his eyes stared at her as though he would fiercely attack her. And then this 'ah-ha' look came to his face and he smiled a little too wildly. "That's the best idea I've heard in ages, I'll do that," Kyo mused excitedly.

Sorano flinched at his initial expression, but the instant it dissolved she, too, grinned a bit, rather pleased at the idea. It would be an amazing thing to see the look of outrage on Akiyama's face as he went over the list.
The only thing that bothered her was..."Won't he like...hunt you down and have you killed for pulling a stunt like that?"

"It's possible, but there are many ways around that. For an example, we're probably safer leaving the Imperial area anyways since we're in war. For a while, that is. I know a place that is much nicer, less people, and very safe," his head turned to look at the hall of the house and his smile decreased a little. "That is.. if you're willing to.."

Sorano took a step forward, smiling and giving him a bit of a salute. "Don't worry about me, sir; I'll go where you go, no problem. If you'll let me."
She grimaced a little; I'm not really that helpful...and I'm horrible at cooking...I'll have to work on that.
"I'll do what I can," she said optimistically, "and I won't keep making stupid mistakes that'll cause you trouble. So don't worry about me!"
Worry more about trying to get away from Kisho-san without having some sharp object thrown at you on your way outta there, the voice in the back of her mind interjected dryly. She happily ignored it.

Standing up from his leaned position he turned to face Sorano once more. He saw her as an accomplice of the sort. Someone he could rely on - a friend? "The town is much smaller and due to cut of exports we won't have supplies from Japan, but mostly things from Europe. It's a small adjustment but we'd be gaining more living there, anyway. In your room, feel free to take what you want from the storage under the floor boards," he pointed towards the floor of the room, at the black latch. Most of it was Akane's things, nice kimonos and all of the other things he told Sorano about.
"When we get to the town we'll have to pose under a different identity and take up a 'profession' that we'll run together, to allow everyone to trust us there," he tried to explain, like he had planned this out previously.

Sorano nodded as she listening to him explain. It was kind of funny how everything seemed to fall in place, but she didn't really mull it over; the less stress, the better, after all. She glanced down at the floor momentarily as he mentioned it--ever since he told her about it, she'd felt uneasy about even thinking about looking down there. It seemed almost forbidden in a weird way, even though he told her it was okay. In any case, she figured she had more than enough of her own things to make do, and if not, she could easily make more. She was good at that.
The mention of a fake profession brought her back to attention, blinking a few times. "What kind of profession?" she asked, secretly hoping it had nothing to do with food. Or acupuncture. Let's not be picky, here! Good grief. Either way, the idea of a fake name was strangely exciting...She'd have to think of a good one later on.

"Depends, what would you like to do?" he asked, allowing his plans to have a slight flaw so that Sorano could be of help to him. Sure, he had already placed in a profession before - because he had planned this, years ago. Just in case he wanted an escape. "Ah.. the house there isn't really decorated, so if you wanted to decorate it you can. I really don't have an insight for it.."

"A-ah?" The girl blinked as Kyo asked her input. Don't ask me! the voice hollered. She smiled, embarrassed a bit, tugging at a tangle of hair she snagged in her fingers.
"It doesn't really matter to me--whatever you think will work best. I can adapt pretty good! And I can sew up a few things for the house to make it look a little more..homey, I suppose. So you don't have to worry about that, sir. You can just tell me what you'd want when we get there, and I'll do what I can."

"Writers, for the illiterate," Kyo offered one of the professions that he knew many couples took as a join-project. He was educated and he assumed Sorano was, too. And if she wasn't? Well, she had talent that would help out. He would not offer the position of killing others once more like he had done previously.
"Well out there it isn't custom to have servants, so I guess I'll have to say you're my wife or daughter," Kyo mused at the daughter thing - knowing he could never take care of one in his state. Then he noticed something and he adjusted himself, "Why do you.. address me as sir?"
