"If we did that ... then what would be the point of the team work?" Moving his right hand up and into the center between the other two. The back of his hand was facing up, wanting a trio-truce. Shifting his eyes over to Xue, he shook his head, "if we went to Sze he would ask why we wanted to know and that would blow our cover."

Xiao looked down at the back of Shikang's palm warily. "...You put your hand down first, Squirt. I still don't trust the Yaukau*."
(*Monster.)

"I didn't say anything about asking," Xue said mildly. "They could be talking loud enough for us to hear... but you're right, it's pretty risky. None of us are very stealthy... except maybe you, Shikang."
"Huh? Oh, right..." He hesitated for a brief moment, but laid his hand on top of Shikang's. "Now you, Xiao."

Shikang felt the hand on top of his, and his eyes stayed fastened on Xiao. He wasn't sure why he was referred to as a monster; he hadn't given Xiao a reason to think of him like that. Or did he? Well, at least he tried. Shikang refused to be play stubborn. "Maybe," was all he said, waiting.

Xiao broke into a grin, excitement winning over any suspicion he might've had. He slapped his hand down on top, with such force that the column of hands bobbed down for a moment. "Awesome, let's do it!"

Xue looked between Shikang and Xiao for a moment before breaking into the first real grin that either boy had seen. "All right... where do you think they'd be keeping such an important person?"

Once the agreement was settled, Shikang removed his hand to let it rest back at his side. "A tent that sticks out, perhaps one that is being guarded?" he was positive the tent wouldn't be un-watched.

"Yeah, but which camp?" asked Xiao. He turned around in a full circle, scanning the tops of tents, at times hopping up and down when they were too high for him to see past. "It's kinda big, and right now we're only in our general's area...we should split up!" he exclaimed. "Three camps, and three of us! We'll check it out and meet back at the central area to get the others if we find it!"

"That should work." Xue nodded firmly, scanning the area. "But if either of you find where he is, make sure to get the others, first. We don't want anyone getting caught on their own, okay? So who's going to go where?"

Shikang agreed to coming back if they found anything by simply nodding his head. The plan had so many flaws but if they stuck together it would turn out right. "Xue, perhaps you should stay here since you originally were recruited under Sze. Xiao and I should search the areas with our original designated Generals."

"Not too bad of an idea coming from you!" said Xiao, but it was accompanied with a smile that ensured the words meant no real harm. He shoved Shikang with his elbow and lightly dug his knuckles into the crown of Xue's head before taking a step back and turning around. "See you in the central area!" he called over his shoulder, already sprinting off.

Xue rubbed his head with a small, exasperated smile as he weaved through the tents, scanning each one, searching for one that stood out. Some had sizable crowds around them, but they were just packs of recruits attempting to sort out the situation. He tried to slip by as quietly as possible; the other soldiers had quickly discerned that Xue was an easy target, and if they were bored, it was best not to attract their attention.
About half an hour later, he'd searched what he thought was every last inch of their camp. Just as he began to walk towards the central area, he stopped, turning around to face the tent behind him. He'd seen the soldiers standing outside it, but he'd automatically dismissed it as more gossipping recruits, and only then did he stop and realize that the men outside weren't talking at all. In fact, they just stood there: two at the front entrance, and two at the back.
Slowly, Xue began to walk away, trying to appear as unconcerned as possible, but as soon as he was out of their sight, he broke into a run towards the central area.

Shikang had left just as Xiao and Xue had to begin a search. When he had gotten back to his own camp, no one questioned him. Shikang figured it was because they had all seen his face before. Rie's camp area was different compared to Sze's. No one was gathered about gossiping, actually, the camp seemed to be unaware of the other camps situation. Each tent set up was wide and open, nothing suspicious. This only led him back to the central area.
Xue was already there, it seemed. The kid even seemed frantic. Making his way towards the younger recruit with his right brow furrowed. "Find anything?"

Xiao was not quite as efficient with his time. As soon as he reached his old camp, he was greeted by a few soldiers off duty. He had always been talkative and almost overly-friendly, so on the first day he had made a fair share of acquaintances. They pulled him down to sit with them even as he half-heartedly protested, and spent a little while talking and gossiping on their respective generals and duties. At the first chance presented, he stood up, apologized with a, "sorry, I have to get going!" and ran away.
General Kwok's camp was much like General Sze's. Xiaoszi sifted throw the rows and columns of tents, finding nothing extraordinary, much to dismay. Xue or Shikang must've found it, he thought, running back to the center to find his two teammates already there and waiting. "Did you find it?" he called, before he reached them, "Didya?"

Xue nodded enthusiastically, still trying to catch his breath. "It's... on the other side of the camp," he began, gesturing over his shoulder. "There's four guards stationed around it... something important's definitely in there. But I don't know how we're going to see what it is, all the entrances are being looked after."
