Shikang watched the entire incident, amazed at how fast Xue and the stranger went down. His gaze settled on Naia blankly. From the sound of it, apparently Xiao knew him as well. Was this the 'suspicious' character Xue mentioned? Placing his hands on his hips, he gave the stranger a demanding stare.

"Ahaha... it's no problem..." Xue clambered to his feet, looking nervously between his teammates. "You know Xiao, of course... but, um, this is Shikang. This is Jun, Shikang." Xue's gaze lingered on Shikang for a brief moment, and he shook his head slightly, asking him not to bring up their earlier conversation.

Naia didn't give Xiao much more than a quick grin - there wasn't much use in trying to get on his good side, from the looks of things, and making too much of an effort to be everybody's best friend would look odd - before addressing the other two. He met Shikang's eyes with a curious look, eyebrows raised just a bit.
"Pleased to meet you," he said with a quick bow of his head.

"Likewise," he said to Naia's introduction, nodding his head in a half-bow. Shikang never really respected other people in the military, seeing no connection to government officials what so ever. Finally lowering his arms to his side he noted the lingering stare from Xue. So far he saw nothing suspicious about Naia, except for the fact he was wandering around in the wrong section. "Your patrol extends to this camp?" he asked Naia.

"Don't worry about it, Jun." Xue smiled awkwardly. "We've got plenty of people over here, we don't need any help."

"Well, General Rie wanted us to fan out as much as possible," Naia replied pensively. "I thought it was strange, but maybe it has to do with that rumor..." His face brightened momentarily. "At least, my tentmates heard something about a prisoner being kept. A traitor, or at least that's what I heard... Have you heard about it?" His eyes danced between Shikang and Xue, and for once, he was genuinely curious.
(ooc: No, he actually doesn't know. XD Bad ninja.)

"Nope!" responded Xiao, "we haven't! Thanks, though we've got this area covered anyway, s'you don't have to go this far out." It was kind of odd - they were pretty far into their own camp, and even a soldier 'fanning out' would have to have been aiming to cover a pretty large area if they were in this deep, but what did he know of the other Generals' orders? He just didn't like the guy.

"Just like Xiao said, no - we haven't," Shikang's gaze moved towards Xiao, finally knowing why this character was suspicious. But Xue took heart to Jun and he didn't want to place a doubt in the kid's judgment about people. He also knew Rie gave weird orders, so it was a possibility that his actions were honest.

Xue kept his mouth shut about the rumor; he wasn't very adept at lying, and he didn't want to give them away. "Oh, Jun, did you hear?" he said casually. "There was a girl in the camp the other day!"

Judging from the looks that the other two had taken on, he decided he should be very grateful for Xue's change of subject. "I did hear that," he nodded, widening his eyes a bit. "I never saw her, but I hear she really was something to look at."

"Oh yeah~," added Xiao, eyes lifting with a smirk. "A real looker! Half the camp was chasin' her skirt."

Shikang's gaze wavered, recalling the face Xue gave him when he apologized about the dress. "Wonder what happened to her," he chipped in, not wanting to look suspicious for not having a comment about it.

"It's no wonder she ran away!" Xue chimed, a little too much indignation in his voice. "All those men piling on top of her like that, touching her... 's a wonder no one got hurt or anything..."

"I wish I could have seen her." Naia threw in a small, disappointed sigh for good measure. "I could hear the commotion all the way from my tent, though. It really must have been something."
Was it just his imagination, or did Xue seem unusually defensive? Maybe he was just the really chivalrous type; it wouldn't have been surprising. But still, Naia saw no reason not to further gauge the young man's reactions to the topic. He tilted his head curiously. "I didn't know it was that chaotic," he mused. "Wonder why she was here in the first place."

"Probably couldn't wait 'till her boyfriend returned from the army!" Xiao threw in all too helpfully, enjoying the running joke too much to let Jun's presence bother him any more than necessary. "Maybe if you're lucky, she'll show up again!"
