Xue laced his fingers together and extended his arms into the air, trying to stretch out his aching back. Though Sze's remark that they'd be moving soon hadn't come to pass yet, they'd been as busy as ever the past few days, it seemed; at least, the recruits had been pulling twice as many shifts on guard duty.
And there's probably a good reason for that, Xue thought, frowning as he pictured the face of the Japanese prince being kept in the middle of their camp. I wonder if General Sze's going to tell us...
As Xue neared his tent, he smiled at the familiar figure climbing out, looking uncharacteristically disheleved. "Ah, Shikang, good afternoon! Well... I guess it's 'good evening' now..."

Shikang's stare moved towards Xue's face. He didn't notice the kid until he spoke up. "Good evening," he said while pondering the expression he should give. Probably a smile, but he wasn't really all that happy to see Xue. Shikang preferred being alone, after all. Although seeing Xue here got him curious. "No change?" he asked, talking about the camp.

"Nothing so far, and I've been watching pretty closely," Xue said, shrugging. "Xiao's on duty now, though... he said he'd tell us if he heard anything. I was going to walk around the camp a little, though!"
Xue trailed off, remembering Xiao's repeated warning: don't go anywhere alone. He still thought the older boy was being utterly paranoid, but when Xiao had found out about the other night, with Naia, he'd headlocked Xue so tightly that he thought he was going to die.
"Would you like to come?" Xue offered.

Shikang's right brow rose when Xue gave him an invitation to walk around the camp. They did that every day by routines, how could anyone walk around it once more? It was all very boring to him. But it would be rude to decline. "Sure," Shikang replied.

"Ah, thank you so much," Xue laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his head. "I'm sorry, I don't mean to take up your time like this... but Xiao gets pretty mad when I go anywhere on my own."

Shikang was also baffled when he heard Xiao was worried. In the military everyone had to have a shred of being able to work by themselves. However, he nodded his head to show he somewhat agreed with Xiao when he really didn't. "Don't mention it," he said in response moving slightly towards Xue's side.
"Why would Xiao be upset over it?" Shikang had to ask, wanting to know the kid's reasoning.

"Why? Well... it's nothing, really!" Xue's smile widened a bit, trying to brush off Xiao's concerns with a single gesture. "He thinks that one of the other recruits I'm acquainted with is suspicious or something."

"Suspicious of what?" he pressed, wanting to really know. If there was something out of order in the camp, he didn't know. And this recruit he spoke of..? "What's the recruit’s name?" If anything got his interest, it was this.

"Huh? It's Xie Jun... he's one of General Rie's," Xue said slowly, throwing Shikang a sideways glance. "I've talked to him a few times, and he's nice enough. Little strange, maybe... he kinda asks a lot of questions... but I didn't think he was suspicious."

"Oh," Shikang said, "never heard of him." Now that he knew the recruit's name he didn't really need to know more. And besides, asking too many questions did get suspicious. "Just don't say anything that will give away the military's secrets. His General will tell him that stuff, anyways."

"Like I have any secrets to tell..." Xue began to laugh, before suddenly realizing that he did know a secret. A fairly big one, for that matter. "Or not... but I haven't told anyone about that, I promise. And I'm not going to, either."

"Huh?" Shikang looked over to the kid, not knowing of this secret he was talking about. If it was a secret, no one should really know. Unless he took part in this secret. Without warning he moved his left hand and placed it on the top of Xue's head to stop him in his place. "Sorry about the dress," he said, knowing being used as a decoy was unreasonable.

Xue colored a little when Shikang's hand landed on top of his head, but didn't flinch away. "You know..." He moved in closer, lowering his voice. "The whole... prince thing? Although I don't know what that's all about, either..." He stopped at the mention of the dress, bristling instantly. He'd managed to put the incident out of his mind, but whenever it was brought up, he felt a surge of annoyance. "You did what you had to do," he huffed. "I'm glad I was a good distraction."

"Ah," Shikang removed his hand. He had forgotten about the Prince-incident for many reasons. "Well then, where are we heading exactly?"

"... I hadn't really thought of that." Xue looked slightly embarrassed, shifting from foot to foot. "Are we allowed to go into town? I should buy your sister a new dress... hers is all wrinkled now because of me."
